CURATING YOUR 2024 ENERGY

I go for a walk around my neighborhood each day and on my route I pass by a couple of parks with playgrounds. As I pass by, I love witnessing the little kids at play. They sprint around with huge smiles on their faces, constantly pushing their limits, climbing, jumping and sliding off things. Then they run to the next thing with the same amount of energy and excitement. When they fall down, they don’t stay down for long because there is so much more to explore. When it’s time to go home, sometimes there’s resistance because they were having so much fun.

Witnessing this got me thinking, if we could live our life like a kid experiencing a playground, I bet we’d approach things differently. If we showed up to each new task with great excitement, I’m sure we would get a lot more out of it. When we fall down in life, I hope we learn a little (or a lot), we course correct and it doesn’t take us long to get back up because there is so much more opportunity ahead and joy to be had.

In January, I wrote a post about what I learned this past year and one of my takeaways was that you get the energy you give in this life. Many times throughout the day, I check in with the energy I am putting out and I have decided I want my energy to more frequently match the joy of a little kid at the playground this year. I want my energy to match the excitement new experiences and opportunities will bring me and I have a feeling they will come even quicker. Now’s the perfect time to become aware of what energy you are putting out into the world and determine if that is the energy you are looking to receive back. If it’s not, determine what energy you want to receive and try to match that as much as you can as you go about your every day life. You may be pleasantly surprised by what finds you. 🙂

Like a kid at the playground, at the end of my life, I want to rest assured knowing I explored as much as I could and I welcomed new experiences with joy and gratitude. There are an endless number of new and unknown experiences we can have throughout life. Whether it’s as simple as trying a new food or as big as starting a new career, the more excitement I bring to newness, the more I get out of it. Likewise, the more excitement and energy I put out into the world, the more I receive back.

Happy 2024, I hope this new year brings you your curated energy and a lot of joy (with the knowledge that both begin from within).

Until the next tale… Happy trails.
