MY STORY

Backpacking Aspen to Crested Butte and back!

I was recently introduced to the term “Digital Nomad”. A coworker threw it out when I explained what my next adventure was going to be. The exciting thing about this pandemic is, it has encouraged so many people to start exploring the great outdoors and with the opportunities remote work can bring, people can venture farther from home to explore new terrain. That’s exactly what I am doing and is the main reason I have started this blog.

I’m in the pink ready to ski race!

But first, I want to jump back to the beginning: I am one of four kids born and raised in Ohio to a loving family who encouraged adventure and new experiences. Growing up, we spent a lot of time in northern Michigan skiing, hiking, picking raspberries, paddling around in lakes and catching frogs in ponds. That’s where my love for the outdoors first started and northern Michigan will always be at the top of my list of favorite places because of it.

Graduation day with my parents!

When it was time to go to college I wanted to continue my adventures to bigger mountains which is what brought me to Colorado. I graduated college with a mechanical engineering degree and I never left. I’ve been here for 8 years now enjoy all this amazing state has to offer. I’ve hiked more trails, summited more peaks, and skied more mountains than I can count. I’m always on the move (something I think I get from my grandma) and I’m happiest when I’m traveling new trails (which is why I can’t stop!). How could you not take advantage of any opportunity to get outside when there are 300 days of sun and so much beautiful earth to discover?!

Hiking in Colorado!

Fast forward to most recently where I found myself in a fully remote job (that I love!) and an apartment lease soon to be up and like fate, my next adventure along with this blog was born. In 2 weeks I am joining the other “Digital Nomads”. I’m going to work from a new state every month, and every weekend and day after work I’m going to explore new places, trails, and National Parks. I’ve never been great at documenting my hiking trips and adventures but here’s to a new start for that! I want to use this space to share trails, itineraries, inspire adventure and encourage all of us to get out there and try something new. If not now, then when?

Welcome to Tales of My Trails. I’m so happy to have you here.
